The 3 Habits That Quietly Transform Your Life
These 3 habits sharpen your mind, build your confidence, give you direction, and improve your life.
In this article, I will give you 3 habits that are simple, yet powerful enough to change your life.
One strengthens your mindset.
One gives you direction.
One builds your foundation.
Once you get these right, everything becomes easier.
Let’s begin.
1) Courage
Taking action. Doing the work. Being disciplined. Making a risky decision. Not being afraid of what others think.
This requires courage.
And in order to build it, we must make it a habit.
It doesn’t have to mean speaking in front of a crowd of a thousand people.
You just need the courage to get going. Some sort of action that drives you forward. Something that your old self would avoid at all costs.
It could be beginning a diet, starting up a business or brand, or standing up for yourself when others challenge your opinion.
Courage builds character, confidence, and resilience.
By having courage, you step out of your comfort zone. It’s scary, uncomfortable, and at times frightening, but this is where we grow. In fact, this is the only way we grow.
If you want to change your life, then being courageous is the first step.
Do it.
Regardless of how hard it is, or if people will judge you, just do it.
You won’t regret it.
2) Planning your Days
Some people make to-do lists, but waste time trying to decide where to start. Others have no list and wander through their days with no intention at all.
The way to fix that?
Planning your days the night before.
The benefits of planning your days include:
Clear structure and direction
Turns intentions into action
Reduces decision fatigue
Better time management
Ever since I began planning my days, I know which tasks to do and when I need to do them. I no longer have to guess or wear myself out deciding what to do next.
To plan your day effectively:
Write down 3 priorities/goals for the day (no more than that)
Note any extra tasks that need to get done for the day
Write down the time when each task will be completed
Begin your day with the hardest task/tasks
Cross off each item as you complete them
Repeat these steps each night
And most times, you won’t be accurate. Something might come up that makes you have to replace a task that you planned out. That’s okay. The whole purpose of the plan is to give you direction and reduce decision-making.
3) Take Care of Your Body
This is a no brainer, but it’s often brushed off.
You don’t want to spend the rest of your life feeling sluggish, becoming out of breath going up the stairs, or constantly feeling weighed down.
Your body is your foundation of life, so you must treat it with respect. The better you treat it, the more enjoyable life is.
You don’t have to do rigorous workouts or eat a super strict diet to achieve optimal levels of health.
All you need:
Eat a nutrient-dense diet (opt for whole foods rather than processed)
Exercise at least 4x a week
Move your body each day (walk, stretch, move around the house, etc.)
Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep
This is all you need to do to reach optimal levels of health.
Of course, it takes time to see results. But don’t focus on how long it will take to see results, focus on making this a part of your lifestyle.
Do not be one of those people in their 40s and 50s who wish they started taking care of their bodies sooner. While you can, start taking care of your body now. You’re only getting older, which means your choices matter more than ever.
We can’t prevent aging, but we can delay the process of aging by treating our bodies with respect.
Ditch the sedentary lifestyle. Ditch the sodas, the alcohol, and the cigarettes.
Begin treating your body as the temple that it is.
Final Thoughts
